Medication Allergy Testing
Do you have a history of allergies to medications?
Our office may be able to test for allergies through specialized skin testing and/or drug oral provocation challenges.
Please budget to spend ~ 3 hours for the appointment, which includes both testing and consultation. If an oral challenge is involved, and especially if any reactions are experienced, more time may be required.
These tests require preparation prior to your appointment and might require collaboration with specialized pharmacies.
Our office works with many third-party pharmacies, including Marchese Specialty pharmacy. You may be asked to contact Marchese at 905-528-4201 several weeks in advance of the appointment to discuss payment for the preparation of your medication for allergy testing.
The price for compounding of medications for allergy testing by these pharmacies may vary and is not controlled by our clinic.
These medications are specifically compounded for allergy testing - they are not the exact same as the medication that you may have reacted to, and so simply bringing in the medication you reacted to will not suffice for testing.
Alternatively, there may be a fee to prepare the necessary reagents for standard antibiotic allergy testing and to arrange for in office challenge. We accept cash, VISA, MasterCard or Interac.
